Lady sounds
Blimey we’ve been away for a long time.
Thought it was time to get back into the YourFace groove and what better place to start than with my favourite thing: ladies with lovely voices singing songs with electro beats.
June seems to be all about the ladies in the music world and I’ve been particularly excited about Little Boots, Regina Spektor, La Roux and Florence and the Machin (well, Florence is at the beginning of July, but whatever)
Now, at the moment only Little Boots has been released so you’ll all have to wait for my thoughts on the other three. After spending months listening to the same three Little Boots tracks repeatedly I was super excited to see what she had to offer with a whole album. Sadly I saw the Metro review moaning about it on Monday morning before I’d even had a chance to listen properly, but now that I have I think the review is even more unfair.
Granted, Hands is not the most instantly stunning album, but its a grower not a shower and Little Boots is still finding her feet. Yes, she’s been hyped beyond belief which does sort of set her up for a fall unless the album was perfect, but I like it. Its fun, its funky, plenty of retro electro, she has a lovely soft tone to her voice and its catchy as hell.
3.5 out of 5 I think.
Regina Spektor is next this month with Far so I shall be returning to this theme in weeks to come. T’ra all. Lovely to see you again.
