Noels HQ: Shamless cash in on peoples emotions.

This programme made me feel sick. And after a number of phone calls to various friends and relatives after the show apparently this makes me the next Scrooge, but this has to be the most unbelievable pile of crap I have had to sit through in a long time.

This is Sky Ones desperate attempt at winning back the publics trust after stealing peoples money during the phone in scandal. The Sun has positioned its self as ‘the voice of the people’ (oh how it made me weep to write that sentence) and now Murdoch is trying to do that with Sky. But to me this just seemed like stupid people creating a fuss about nothing and then using dead children or ill ones to add weight to their cause.

The show wasn’t helped by ‘God Complex’ Noel Edmonds smugly shouting ‘getting through the red tape’ or ‘Bonkers Britain’ like some highly annoying form of turrets. I could happily slap the man until his blood turned brown

As this programme angered and frustrated me so so much I don’t think i can be too cohesive so here is a list of the things that were fundementaly wrong:

  • Keith Chegwin
  • Hypocritical Andy Peters running about Brighton asking for people to donate organs and bone marrow although he can’t do so himself and is doing nothing to challenge the inequality in sexuality and blood/bone marrow donation.
  • Rupert Murdoch is in charge and nothing was mentioned about money from advertising going towards charity, and getting people to go to the sky 1 website to learn about charities rather than the charities website.
  • Product placement as the Early Learning Centre conveniently walked through the front door with highly branded up goods as Konnie of Blue Peter fame walked past followed by and a thank you to Ikea for another set of tables and chairs.
  • A rant about how Barmy Britain is because charity workers cant shake their change boxes, clearly Noel hasn’t walked down a street full of people shaking these frigging things at you.
  • A rant about a woman not being allowed to do gardening in public grounds because she doesn’t have a high visibilty jacket. Noel went on about how she is doing some thing charitable and giving back to the community, why should she be stopped. Perhaps Noel because the council wanted her to be safe, just a thought.
  • The term ‘Grey Britain’ being used.
  • Setting up a fund against knife crimes, but the main sponsor is a boxer……hmmmm ‘Don’t be violent kids..actually no wait its ok to punch each other in the face.’ Mixed messages much?

There is more in me but I fear I have become as self important as Noel. Please let me know what you think because flike I said I do seem to be in the minority I just don’t want it to be true.

But don’t get me wrong, Yay to tv channels raising money for needy causes, how ever I don’t think setting up new charities is the way forward especially if there are others already that deal with the same cause because then that means less money to go round more groups. This programme is an attempt to make Britain a community again. Perhaps, and this may be a crazy notion, we should be proud of the things that Britain has and does rather than nit pick laws that could possibly perhaps sometime in the furute if some one makes a complaint, mean that ice cream vans wont be able to play their pumping tunes.
