The Great – www.briTANick.com

I stumbled across this pair on a bored lonely night, as is so often the case these days *wipes away tear* and when i pressed play on the first video i was expecting 2 idiots thinking they were funny with a camera.  But actually, they’re not that idiotic, and they are funny, very funny, very very funny. You get the picture

I would recommend ‘herpex’, ‘a monologue for thee’, and ‘Pillow Talk’ as the top 3, but i’d be very surprised if you didn’t watch through all the videos like I did.

http://www.britanick.com/videos.php ch-ch-ch-check it out!

The Good – OverheardinNewYork

Another stumbled site, documenting the funny/stupid/inappropriate/rude/shocking things people have been overheard saying in New York.  kind’v does what it says on the tin really.

But scrolling thru this and the other sections makes for brilliant procrastination and lamenting at the idiocy of some people, but meh, its all good fun :)

The Bad – People being mean.

Contrary to popular belief, I don’t spend all day every day sitting hunched over my laptop stumbling.  This isn’t strictly media-related, but i want to know what other people think about it.  Yesterday i was waiting in the queue for the bus in Milton Keynes.  The pair of boys (dressed conspicuously in caps and trackies) behind me moved round in the queue to get a better look at the man in front of me.  It was clear from his appearance that the man in front had a mental condition, and the chavs had actually gone out of their way to ogle at him and laugh.

This continued for the whole busride home where the chavs fell into pathetic fits of giggles and guffaws every time the man made an unusual movement.  I’ve grown up with a brother with a physical condition, and a mother who took on the role of ‘Special Needs Co-ordinator’ at her school, so i’d like to think i’m quite liberal when it comes to living with people who are different to me, but i didn’t realise that some people were so… superficial and ignorant about these things.

This kind’v singling out and bullying is tantamount to racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia – and is analogous with the story of the elephant man.  It upsets and scares me :(

The Ugly – Giant Fart Chambers will kill us all.

The title may have been slightly melodramatic, but it said in the paper this morning that the melting perma-frost in the arctic could uncover huge chambers of methane which, when released into the atmosphere will only serve to speed up and increase the magnitude of the melting and the flooding and worldwide devastation, so we have to pray that they don’t, or grow webbed feet.

A brainwave of my own is to mine the chambers and use the massive expanses of gas to supplement heating, cooking etc, which would reduce gas prices but probably be a bit stinky…ideas people?

The Queen – Stonewall Award nominees!

This is the third year the Stonewall Awards have happened, and it has the most widespread coverage of genders, professions and personalities than ever.  Celebrities up for awards include Mary Portas, Simon Amstell, Sam Sparro, and Sue Perkins – nominated for entertainer of the year; other awards include ‘Journalist of the Year’, ‘Broadcast of the Year’; also being recognised are MPs who’ve moved to address LGBT issues in parliament. These awards are being judged by a ‘specialist panel’ though i’m not sure how one gay can be more specialist than another, but meh.

The other two awards are entitled ‘Hero of the Year’ and ‘Bigot of the Year’ – these can be voted for by us! Head on over to Stonewall to work out how to vote.  Front runners at the moment are Rose Troche for ‘hero’, writer and director of ‘The L Word’ which was nominal in showing a lesbian lifestyle realistically rather than stereotypically.  For bigot of the year, we see the return of Iris Robinson; an irish MP who reckons gays can be cured, and described gays as ‘disgusting, loathsome and an abomination’, she’s also decided that homosexuality is a viler act than abusing children.  I wonder if she’ll turn up to accept the award…

Thats all folks, love to your monkeys
