Kaput and Zösky

God bless sales in Waterstones. Popping in to get the postcard story book featuring JK Rowling and Neil Gaiman (which incidentally, I didn’t get as it seems more popular than gold) I noticed that a bit of sale was going on. Toodling over to my favourite part of the store, the graphic novels, my eyes were drawn to a brightly coloured book that looked a bit like a kids story collection: Kaput and Zösky.

Written by Lewis Trondheim, writer of Mister O and master of minimalism, it tells the various short stories of two bloodthirsty alien invaders; short, fat and mad Kaput and tall, thin and methodical Zösky.

Its just a fun book. What looks like a children’s story is at times hilariously gory and chuckle out loud funny. My favourite panel in the whole book has to be this one:

If you want a fun book that isn’t taxing in any way and doesn’t have any sort of agenda behind it, then this is for you.
