I have vey little to say about this advert other than it is both beautiful and tragic at the same time. Its for Channel 4 and their Disarming Britain season which will focus on youth gun crime.

I love the way they have played on the image of using fingers as a gun which had been made famous by both gangsta wrap and the image of a yoof behind David Cameron making the same signal last year. I suppose if it has been inspired by that image it means David Cameron has done something to warrent his existence.

Thoughts? Fellings? Not only on this advert, but what do youu think about guncrime in the UK?

Despite what this advert is trying to do – It’s preaching to the converted.

The film is amazing and beautifully shot, you care about the Dad that gets shot, you feel the threat and you weep for the lost.

This should be shown in schools at assembly.

But I feel, some will think it’s ‘Cool’ and ‘I wish my fingers did that’, this makes me sad. But society will always have that kind of person, maybe if we ignore them it will go away?!

I feel that people who watch this and care are more than likely the people who already care about this issue. this is not something that would speak to or encourage people likely to commit a fire arms offence to watch the programme, i dont think. beautifully shot and rather well acted scored beautifully (i think this clip would have none of its impact without the music which i think carries it) and a very nice ending with the child.
Its a good promo for the programme, though i wish it would appeal to the people who need educating about this, and i dont think it would have enough effect in schools because it has no shock factor really and doeasnt show enough of the “this could be me” moments.

of course this advert alone will not convert those weilding guns to all of a sudden stop, its not the purpose. The purpose is to advertise a series of prgramming dedicated to informing people about gun crime. And it is in all likely hood that this will be aimed at those who are in contact with people who are using guns so as to help inform and deter. Rather than making people all of a sudden see the error of their ways because the tv told them so.
