Freezepop- Future Future Future Perfect
Personally I don’t care for crisp apple strudels, and much as I like brown paper packages tied up with string I can’t profess any great love for them. Freezepop on the other hand, are one of my favourite things. Shocking analogy, tut tut.
I was introduced to this electro-pop madness about a year or so ago with the band’s previous two albums, both of which I love muchly, and have never tired of. I hoped and prayed that Future Future Future Perfect would also be as bizarre, irritatingly catchy but brilliant and thank Link, it is.
Its naughty, but I tend to form much of my opinion about an album by the first track. Luckily, ‘Less Talk More Rokk’ is a great introduction to the album. I’ve always been hooked by Freezepop’s gameboy-esque sounds, of which there are plenty, but they are also backed up by a more developed and dare I say it, mature, sound.
This is not to say that the whimsy and sheer eccentricity has disappeared at all!
“Theft’s a lot less awesome when its happening to you” has to be a favourite line of mine, and I know Blackett’s; especially as it refers back to ‘Bike Thief’ on the second album Fancy Ultra Fresh.
I won’t go on and on, as really I can’t do justice to simply listening to it, but standout tracks for me have to be:
Less Talk More Rokk
Frontload
Do You Like My Wang?
Do You Like Boys?
Afterparty
I personally can’t wait for Freezepop to grace the British Isles so I can stand in the front row and bounce around like an idiot to their oh-so-fun music. Its so rare that a band can be so silly and still command so much of my respect.
