Earthquake hits Britain!
Ooh, my first post on the new site.
Well, I never thought I’d see the day in boring old Britain, where I’m woken from my slumber by an ecological disaster (sort of).
It was around 1am this morning when suddenly my house began to violently shake and shimmy. Living in a crap house as I do, and used to various loud noises from neighbours during the night as my other half and I are, we didn’t really know what to make of this development. Generally, once it had stopped, we were rather under the impression that we had probably made it up, and that noone would believe our tale.
Oh ho! Upon waking, BBC informs me that the middle/top-ish bit of Britain suffered a 5.3 magnitude quake. I feel rather excited by it all.
The rest of my day will be peppered with thoroughly enjoying the vox pop interviews that the local and lunchtime news will come up with:
John Jenkin, from Bourne in Lincolnshire, said things fell from his shelves. “I was woken up. It was hell.”
I’m confident that Hell might be slightly worse. So, not much of an ecological disaster, but an ecological event nonetheless.
